School Tour Options

  • Museum-Guided – This program includes a guided tour of the fort grounds and Museum gallery by staff along with teacher-led exploration of the rest of the site. Activity sheets tied to Wyoming history curriculum and that address state social studies standards 2, 3, 4 and 5 are available. This option is available to groups of 10 or more April 15– October 15 during the school year.  Reservations are required.
  • Self-Guided – You and your students are free to explore the site on your own.  This option is available year round, although the fort buildings are closed October through April.

 

Classroom

Break out of your classroom and into ours!

Schedule an on-site visit in the new Classroom.  Interactive, hands-on interdisciplinary programs will compliment a visit to the fort in fall and spring.  Learn about the history of Fort Caspar, the City of Casper, Natrona County, and central Wyoming through primary sources as well as archaeology, art, geography, math, and science.  All lessons will meet Wyoming Social Studies Standards 1, 2, 3, 4, & 5.

School Admission Fee

The admission fee is $10.00 per group OR $.50 per student for groups of less than 20. Teachers, chaperones and bus drivers are free. School purchase orders are accepted.

 

Lunch Facilities

There are three picnic shelters at Centennial Park and one shelter near of the cemetery. All shelters are available on a “first-come, first-serve” basis. The lawn is also open for picnicking.

Discovery Trunks

Discovery Trunks allow teachers to bring hands-on history into the classroom for a week at a time. Each trunk contains hands-on objects, audiovisual materials, books, student activities, and an educator’s guide.

Rental Policy

Trunks are available for rental year round.  The fee is $2.00 per trunk per week with pickup on Friday and return the following Thursday.
