About Caspar Collins Day
Caspar Collins Day is a joint project of Fort Caspar Museum and the Fort Caspar Museum Association, that celebrates the Fort and Caspar Collins. Come join us for a fantastic day of free activities including reenactments, great food, great company, tours, and more.
In addition to the usual array of living history and hands-on demonstrations at the Fort, we will have two free special programs in the museum. One will be a presentation at 10:00 am by local historian Johanna Wickman on the 11th Kansas Volunteer Cavalry, who were stationed here during the summer of 1865 and participated in the Battles of Platte Bridge and Red Buttes. The second program at 1 pm will feature a scene and historical background from the 1890s play “The Senator” by Bill Conte and Johanna Wickman.
A new feature this year will be a Pow Wow from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm on the ground. SORRY: POW WOW IS CANCELLED.
Enjoy our changing exhibits, “Soldiers of the Republic: Stories of the 11th Kansas Volunteer Cavalry” and “The Virginian” also do a bit of shopping in the museum.
Outdoors, visit the Market Area featuring food trucks and local craft vendors.
To join us as a food truck or craft vendor, please fill out the APPLICATION.
